Press release
From 18 to 20 March 2025, the 23rd International Exhibition of Cable and Wire Products, Equipment and Materials for its Production — Cabex — was held at the Expocentre in Moscow.
The opening ceremony featured welcome speeches from esteemed guests, including
Maxim Tretyakov, President of the Electrocable International Association; Vitaly Meshchanov, General Director of VNIIKP; Alexander Shtalenkov, General Director of MVK Exhibition Company; and Jiang Bin, Chairman of the Electrical Cable and Wire Branch of the China Electrical Equipment Industry Association (CEEIA-ECWB), the Asian Wire & Cable Cooperation Alliance (AWCCA), and General Director of the Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute (SECRI).
This year, the exhibition brought together 260 companies from Russia, China, Turkey, Iran, India, Kazakhstan and Belarus.
The event attracted over 5,000 industry professionals, 53% of whom were first-time visitors.
A majority – 94% – were from Russia (64% from Moscow and the Moscow region, and 30% from other regions), while 6% represented foreign companies from countries such as Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Iran, Germany, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, India, the UAE, South Korea, and Turkmenistan.
The exhibition targeted executives and specialists from construction and installation companies, as well as end-user businesses purchasing cables, wires, and related products — particularly in mechanical engineering, instrumentation, oil and gas, energy, telecommunications, and specialised trade sectors. Notably, 67% of visitors were senior managers, company executives, or department heads.
The business programme featured two industry-focused conferences, welcoming 33 speakers and more than 300 attendees.
VNIIKP and the Electrocable International Association were the event’s co-organisers. Xinming was the General Sponsor, and RusCable.Ru was the General Information Partner.
Featured Products and Participant Feedback
This year, 78 companies made their Cabex debut, including 2M Group, Leo Industry (RIPO), Xinda Rus, Avar Composite, ID-Electro, Alfacable, ARD Technology, Grinenergosnab, Yingkesong Cable Rus, Fraxis, Extra-E, Elektrotechnmash, Elementa Group, MetallPromSnab, Rytech, SPM, Technomeridian, and many more.
The exhibition featured a wide range of products, including cable and wire products, materials, production equipment, and related items such as cable drums, power electronics, automation tools, and more.
Xinming showcased a high-speed extrusion line for applying PVC and PE insulation onto fine copper conductors. Danil Smirnov, Commercial Director, commented on the effectiveness of the event: "Within just two days at the exhibition, we signed several agreements and even sold an extruder. Tomorrow, the demo unit will be on its way to a cable plant, ready for operation."
Gavary Compounds, a manufacturer of polymer compounds for the cable industry, presented thermoplastic elastomers and halogen-free compounds. Lead Marketing Specialist Tatyana Svorotova highlighted the unique atmosphere of Cabex: "Cabex is a community of outstanding professionals. The atmosphere is special. You get a real sense of where the market is heading and how it’s doing at the moment. I really appreciate that the audience is highly targeted – not just passers-by."
Genesis introduced its new halogen-free flame-retardant compounds. General Director Vyacheslav Kalinin highlighted the networking opportunities at the exhibition: "It’s a fantastic event that brings the industry together — clients, partners, suppliers. We’ve been exhibiting for several years, and each time we gain valuable new contacts. Cabex gives us the chance to look each other in the eye, shake hands, and build closer ties."
Prysmian took part in Cabex for the first time. Elena Rysina, Head of Low Voltage Cable Sales, shared her thoughts on the exhibition and the company’s future plans: "Our company is Italian, with a site in Rybinsk. Some people are surprised that, as a European company, we are still in Russia. But we never planned to leave — we intend to stay and continue our work. Being here among professionals, partners, industry peers is an honour. Cabex stands for scale and professionalism."

Another first-time exhibitor, SIP, a developer of VR training simulators, showcased a simulator replicating the operation of an extrusion line at a cable factory. "We've been working with cable factories since 2020. New operators require training, and we create digital models of production lines — we replicate the entire process exactly as it is and train them this way. We came to the exhibition to showcase our developments and find new clients. Chief technologists from factories approached us, and many were impressed," – shared Tatiana Kuznetsova, the company's CEO.

This year's business programme was designed so that participants and guests of the exhibition could not only discuss current industry topics but also look into the future of the cable industry and manufacturing as a whole.
As part of the exhibition, the International Science and Technology Conference named after Professor I.B. Peshkov, "Cable Industry. Science. Technology. Production", and the conference "The Future Without Wires: Illusion or Reality? Global Trends" took place.
A presentation by Russian futurist Danila Medvedev provided an opportunity to explore new development possibilities for the cable industry through the lens of tomorrow’s technologies.
