Anniversary Cabex: 20 years contributing to the development of the Russian cable market

On 15-17 March 2022, Cabex – the key business event for the Russian cable industry took place in Moscow at Expocentre Fairgrounds. This year the exhibition celebrated its anniversary – it has been held for the 20th time. For 20 years Cabex has been an effective business platform helping all participants of the Russian cable market to establish long-term mutually beneficial business relationships and to find solutions to the most pressing technological and commercial tasks.

The 20th Anniversary Cabex became a truly bright, dynamic and memorable event – in tune with the spectacular show of the drumming team that preceded the official opening ceremony. The energetic pace set at the very beginning of the exhibition has been kept at the 1st Pavilion of Expocentre for all three working days of Cabex 2022. A pleasant detail of the anniversary exhibition was the full return of human emotions – just before the opening of the event, anti-covid restrictions have been lifted off significantly following the decree of the Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. Cabex became the first exhibition that has been held without masks or other attributes of anti-covid measures.
 
The official opening ceremony of Cabex on March 15 was attended by Evgeny Gribov, Director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the Fuel and Energy Sector of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Vitaly Meshchanov, «VNIIKP» General Director, Maxim Tretyakov, «Electrocable» International Association President, Alexander Shtalenkov, MVK company General Director, and Sergey Selivanov, Expocentre Deputy General Director.

   

Exhibition exposition

This year 114 companies from 6 countries took part in the exhibition, representing Russia, Turkey, China, Iran, Azerbaijan and the Republic of Belarus. They demonstrated their products on a total exhibition area exceeding 5,000 sq. m. Among the Cabex 2022 exhibitors are the leading manufacturers and suppliers of cable and wire products, electrotechnical and electrical-installation products, materials and equipment for cable production: Akron Holding, «Kamkat», «Kamsky Cable», «Ludinovokabel», «MosVtorMet», «United Energy Company», «Saransk Cable», «Special Cable», «Uncomtech», «Ural Plasticizer Plant», «Uralelectromed», «Fund-Service», «Cable Alliance Holding», «Tsvetlit», «SZMP», «Tomskkabel», «Kaluga Cable Plant», «Em-Cable». The Anniversary Cabex was the debut for 20 companies, including: «Gerda», «Proplas»t, «Forintech», «SZMP», «Taurus Motors», «EKM Holding», «Titan», «Energoplast».
 
The 20th Anniversary Cabex was replete thith visual demonstration of advanced achievements in the production of cable and wire products. Thus, Cable Alliance Holding presented its technological solutions for high-speed railways, as well as technologies used in the oil and gas industry, energy and mechanical engineering. Tomskkabkel LLC demonstrated samples of their main nomenclature groups, as well as new products of its own TOFLEX® trademark. The Tsvetlit cable factory, a regular participant of the exhibition, demonstrated their new products – power cable, including fire–resistant, armored, with a cross section of 50 mm. sq. m. with wire–shaped cores, in copper and aluminum versions. The company «EKM Holding» presented the installation and power cables InSil, KuPe, cable-carrying systems SKINNER, as well as the new lighting equipment and industrial electric heating systems. The cable factory «Spetskabel» demonstrated new cables of the SKAB-S series, suitable for the usage in permafrost conditions, as well as the wide range of other cable and wire products. At the stand dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the factory, Kamkabel demonstrated samples of control cables, shaft cables, self-supporting, as well as compact winding and high-voltage insulated wires. A novelty of its own production – TechnoCar wires for the automotive industry – was presented by the «SPKB Techno» factory, and as a demonstration aid of this product, a Russian-made buggy from F-Motorsport was demonstrated at the company's stand. The Tatneft-Kabel factory offered exclusive novelties of the cable and wire products to the visitors of the exhibition: fire-resistant cables for a voltage of 1-35 kV with the FRHF index with a sheath made of a cross-linked halogen-free composition and fire-resistant high-voltage cables for a voltage of 110-500 kV with the FRHF index. The company «Gavari Compounds» presented its novelties in the field of thermoplastic compounds, halogen-free materials, additives and dyes. «Rusplast» demonstrated the MASFLEX compounds used in the cable and wire production.


 
In addition to helping exhibitors effectively solve sales tasks for the current range of products, the Cabex exhibition serves manufacturing companies well in developing their nomenclature, finding new product niches and, based on feedback from potential customers, pinpointing those technical characteristics of their products that requires alterations in order to better satisfy current market needs. For example, NPP POLYPLASTIC announced their plans to develop fundamentally new technical solutions shortly after exhibiting at Cabex 2022 based on the insights gained at the exhibition.
 
A clear evidence of the exhibition effectiveness in solving marketing, communication and technological tasks of the exhibitors is the numerous positive feedback from the employees of the participating companies.

Business program

This year, the business program of the exhibition aroused a special interest of visitors.  Cabex 2022 business program became a platform for exchanging expert opinions and discussing the future of the Russian cable market in new realities. In the framework of the Cabex business program 4 thematic events were held, hosted by more than 30 speakers.
 
The work of the business program started on March 15 with the panel discussion «Modern threats and challenges for the cable industry», organized by JSC «VNIIKP» and the Association «Electric Cable». The panel discussion was moderated by Maxim Tretyakov, President of the «Electric Cable» Association. The event was attended by:

The conference of the All-Russian Research Design and Technological Institute of the Cable Industry «VNIIKP - 75 years in the vanguard of the cable industry», dedicated to the anniversary of the organization, continued the work of the first day of the business program. The moderator of the conference was the General Director of JSC «VNIIKP» Vitaly Meshchanov. Heads of VNIIKP departments presented reports on the following topics during the conference:

• «Modern cables and wires for various purposes based on high-temperature superconductors»
• «International experience and trends in the development of high-voltage cable lines for direct current transmission»
• «Testing and research of fire-resistant medium voltage cables»
• «Development of fiber-optic cables for special operating conditions»
• «The key role of standardization in technical regulation»

On the second day of the business program, March 16, a round table «Russian Railways – the locomotive of the development of the Russian economy and the cable industry» was held, organized by NP «OPZHT», JSC «VNIIKP» and NP «Association «Electric Cable». The round table was focused on topical issues related to the use of cable products at railway sector: trends in the development of the Moscow Metro and the use of cable products for lines in operation and under construction, new developments of cables and wires for railway rolling stock, quality trends and problems of domestic cable and wire products on railway rolling stock, technical requirements for cable and wire products for promising railway rolling stock, import substitution in the production of cables and wires.
 
On the final day of the exhibition and its business program, March 17, the technological session «Cable industry: legislative changes and modern production capabilities» was held. The event was addressed managers and technical specialists of the company-manufacturers of cable and wire products. The session was attended by: the head of the «SINGLE WINDOW» direction of the ANO «SOYUZEXPERTIZA» CCI of the Russian Federation Oksana Polyanskaya, Director of ESG ANO «SOYUZEXPERTIZA» CCI of the Russian Federation Stanislav Ilyanov, Commercial Director of NPO AURUS Maxim Mikhailov, General Director of Sikora Russia Sergey Pakhtusov, General Director of International Technology Company LLC Boris Entin. The session was moderated by Kashin Marat, the host of Kommersant FM radio.
