Limited liability company Nexans CIS is formed in 2002 as Nexans Group representation in Russia and in Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
A basic purpose of the company till 2005 was advancement of Nexans' production in the Russian market and in the CIS countries. The company annually increases sales volumes and expands a range of cabling production in a zone of the commercial responsibility.
In 2005 Nexans Group has made the decision about building in Russia of own factory. Thus, management of factory building and the subsequent launch of manufacture of cable production are a second major task of company at the present. Uglich in the Yaroslavl region has been chosen as place of factory building where in 2006 the company has opened the Uglich Branch of Nexans Russia.
Factory was opened 20th of November, 2008.
Nexans CIS was renamed to Nexans Rus. in 2009, November.

In 2013, Nexans became the first cable player to create a Foundation to introduce sustained initiatives for access to energy for disadvantaged communities worldwide.
