The development is based on the use of fiber-optic sensing elements — Bragg gratings. The technology detects changes in electric field characteristics by measuring shifts in the wavelength of the reflected signal caused by alternating voltage.
According to Artyom Kuznetsov, the device provides high measurement accuracy and stable readings even across a wide temperature range.
The design is based on an optical sensor with a fiber Bragg grating — a special periodic structure inside an optical fiber that reflects a specific part of the spectrum. Changes in the electric field affect the characteristics of the reflected signal, enabling highly precise measurements.
The developers note that the use of such sensors could improve the reliability and safety of energy facilities, provide more effective monitoring of grid parameters, and enhance the quality of power supply.
The invention has already received a patent from the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property.
