Cabex 2023, the 21st International Exhibition for Cabling and Wirefitting Products, Equipment and Materials for their Manufacture, took place on 14-16 March at the Expocentre, Pavilion 1, Moscow.

Compared to last yearμa3;s trade fair, Cabex 2023 saw a 33% increase in exhibit space and a 25% increase in the number of exhibitors.

Over 170 manufacturers and suppliers from Russia, India, China, Turkey and the Republic of Belarus took part in the exhibition, presenting their products in 5 thematic sections: Cables and wires, Materials for the production of cables and wires, Equipment for the production of cables and wires, Electrical installation equipment and Electrical products.

Over 50 companies presented their products at Cabex for the first time: Kavkazkabel, Energosila, Bashplast, Sibur, MosItLab, Leader-Compound, Yekaterinburg non-ferrous metal processing plant, Rika Group, Interelectro, Transenergo, NPP ERG, Stroyinvest, Kabmak, Mikron Makina, VLts Instrument, Astron-Unit, Aktec, NGO Copper Way, Plasma K, Kabmash, Almazinstrument and others.
 
Once again, key players in the cable industry became Cabex participants: Akron Holding, Kamkat, Lyudinovokabel, Kamsky Cable, Spetskabel, Tomskkabel, Tsvetlit, Genesis, Metaklay, Uralelectromed, Elinar, Proplat, Ural Plant of Plasticizers, Sinoholdin Group, Kablomak Makina, Balitech-15, Crystal Ltd, Fond Servis, Saranskkabel-Optika, SPKB Techno, TD SKK, MC Sistema-Servis, Zaslavlenergo, Eliz, Rusov, BAZPlastbay, NPP ERG, RKS-Plast, Group Mettatron, Thermoclip, TDM Electric, Sarkuysan, Xinming and other Russian and foreign manufacturers and suppliers.
 
The participants clearly demonstrated advanced achievements and developments in the field of cable and conductor production.

Visitors showed special interest in the Russian novelty presented at the stand of Chuvashkabel, a motor oil and gas resistant cable. Timur Voigt, Leading Specialist of the Marketing Department at Chuvashkabel, commented on the outcome of participation in the exhibition: "Cabex for us is one of the main tools for attracting new customers and one of the leading industry exhibitions, which is why we take part in it every year. Participation always pays for itself in just 3 months and we are profitable from there".
 
"At Cabex we met new customers we were not yet aware of. The visitors were a serious contingent: technical specialists, commercial directors, heads of departments. At the end of the two days we had already fulfilled our business objectives. The exhibition met our expectations," said Alexander Glushenkov, Director of Marketing and Development at OKB KP, commenting on the commercial effectiveness of participation in Cabex 2023.  
 
MosItLab, a young company, participated in Cabex for the first time, presenting ready-made digital solutions for business process automation at continuous industrial enterprises and aroused special interest among visitors. Those wishing to attend were able to test the equipment at the stand. "We had more than 50 applications, and with two companies we agreed terms of cooperation right at the stand. It's a very cool working atmosphere. We will continue to participate in Cabex in the future," explained Jan Anisov, CEO of MosITLab.

At Bashplast's stand, manufacturers of cable and wire products were able to solve their problems with the production of checkpoints by ordering polymer compounds from the company. "We are very active for a day and a half of meetings at the exhibition, and we hardly have any free space at the tables," summarised Alekhin Dmitriy, Commercial Director of Bashplast, summarised the first two days of work.   
 
At the stand of UNECO, there was a significant event for power engineers - the signing of a cooperation agreement with Southwestern State University. The main objectives of interaction are: dissemination of education in the energy sector; organization of events aimed at improving the educational level and creative abilities of students; orientation of university graduates to work in the energy industry and involvement of the university in the implementation of research works.

Significant growth in visitor numbers
Cabex 2023 was visited by 4,767 specialists from 67 regions: from the Pskov region to the Primorsky region. Among them were the company's top purchasing decision-makers (68%). The share of new visitors was 61%.
 
Compared to 2022, the number of visitors to Cabex increased by 34%. This figure exceeded not only last year's results, but also those of pre-pandemic 2019.

Cabex 2023 business programme: over 80 speakers and over 300 attendees
This year's Cabex business event cycle included three conferences at which more than 80 leading industry experts shared their professional knowledge and experience with more than 300 specialists from a variety of sectors.
 
The business programme opened with the Prof. I.B. Peshkov conference "Cable Industry  Science. Technique. Production" organised by Russia's leading cable industry enterprise VNIIKP, Elektrokabel Association, and the Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences of the Russian Federation. The heads of the cable industry enterprises and scientists summarized the work of the cable industry in 2022, presented new directions in the developments, the future prospects of development of the energy industry and providing its growth with the latest cable products, considered the problems and opportunities of creating domestic materials for insulating systems for high and extra-high voltage cables, the current opportunities of supplying materials for the production of cables and wires in Russia.

At the conference "Design and installation of cable networks. Topical challenges, regulatory developments and effective solutionss", representatives of construction companies, heads of profile organisations and associations touched upon aspects of the industry of interest mainly to design and construction and installation companies, and also discussed issues related to finding the most effective forms and methods of work to optimise the production of CPP. 
 
On the third day of the exhibition, a conference called "Current issues in the cable and wire building industry", which included a professional dialogue between representatives of the cable industry and touched upon issues such as optimising the production of cables, logistics, the labour market, import substitution, and waste management in the cable industry market.

For the first time, the show hosted the "Best Innovative Product 2023" competition. The expert jury represented by specialists from VNIIKP OJSC and Elektrokabel Association determined the winners in each of the three categories of the contest: Cable and Wire, Materials for Cable Production, and Electrical Installation Products. The awarding ceremony took place at the Cabex exhibition on March, 16.
 
Traditionally, the annual RusCable PR-challenge contest for PR-specialists and marketing services was held within the framework of the exhibition. This year more than 40 companies were nominees.
